-5- 'Thank You Australia'

Hollah to the patriotic (can you use that on people other than americans?) Australians down under. I'd like to thank them specifically for placing their national anthem at the end of each and every hymn book. Makes sense right? I mean why should America be the only country with theirs included? Those smart Australians fixed that problem lickety-split and copied and pasted their own right in.

Australians all let us rejoice
For we are young and free
We've golden soil and wealth for toil,
Our home is girt by sea:
Our land abounds in nature's gifts
Of beauty rich and rare,
In history's page let every stage
Advance Australia fair,
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia fair.

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross,
We'll toil with hearts and hands,
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renowned of all the lands,
For those who've come across the seas
We've boundless plains to share,
With courage let us all combine
To advance Australia fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing,
Advance Australia fair.

Yes that, is indeed in the back of every hymn book here in Australia and yes indeed, we do sing it in sacrament meeting...

...and so to you, Australia, today I say,
Thank You.

  5. Did you know our anthem could have been "waltzing matilda"? If you do know it, you should look it up. I think we ended up with something better!!
