So this one time we went to America...but then instead of coming back to Sydney, we decided to give ole Melbourne a holla. Although I was having a hard time because I'd just left my family, I think I had a harder time just pronouncing Melbourne.
Can I have th pronunciation please?
"Melbourne? Melboooonre? ooooh! MEL-BURN!"
Just ignore the spelling silly!
Phil and I had a splendid time. A city with old buildings, how could I not enjoy it? I really could just sit and gaze at the architecture on a cathedral for hours but guess what? They let us inside this one.
BONUS!
It was magnificent.
Oh and don't even worry that there was this bank in the city that was immaculate as well.
This is a sneaked photo right before the asian man told me "NO PHOTO!" Haha...one measly sign to warn me of such things. Come on- of course I didn't see it!
Lindt Chocolate. Yes!
Of course when we walked by the Lindt Cafe we could not be stopped. On a cold and wintery Melbourne day nothing sounded better than the best hot cocoa int he world.
They gave me liquid chocolate to flavor my creamy hot milk.
Mmmmm.
Good thing I chose to enjoy it with this little guy.
Double treat!
We went to the Titanic exhibit while we were there. It was really interesting! They had actual items from the Titanic and we walked through sets that made us feel like we were actually on the ship. The best part was that they gave us a ticket with a real passenger's name on it and at the end we got to see if they lived or died. It made it so much more real.
Buuuut on the way to the exhibit I had to stop and snap a pic at this spot. The city is so pretty!
There was a reason that we graced Melbourne with our presence.
Wedding time!
A guy from a family Phil baptized on his mission was marrying a girl from Melbourne. Our flight home from America stopped in Melbourne. Ideal!
Oh the Hoey family...
Meeting this family was a real treat. I could tell how much they loved Phil and it was really humbling to see a family that Phil had helped bring into the gospel. They were so loving and welcome.
and FUNNY!
"Uncle Joe" even came to visit us. He was such a creep!...but he looked strangely like Mr. Hoey...hmmmmm
Here are the dapper young groomsmen and the groom trying on the tuxes before the big day.
Little James could not figure out how Phil could have his two fingers linked before he put them behind his head and then they'd magically come apart. Sneaky Phil!
and the wedding was beautiful. It had a simple elegance about it and I love that. Everything about the bridal party reminded me of Pride and Prejudice. It was a beautiful wedding!
Bride and Groom.
Melbourne Temple
Awwe- we love the Hoeys!
and leave it to me to pull a crazy pose in the middle of some half-hearted attempts. Oh boy.
Between the wedding and reception we made our way up to these beautiful gardens up in the hills. It was freezing! We walked around with the bride and groom offering Phil's groomsman smile when needed. It was freezing! The gardens were amazing. I wish I could see them in the spring. It was freezing!
Oh and did I mention, it was FREEZING!
Told you, Pride and Prejudice right?
Fa-reeeeezing my buns off, but still all smiles!
We loved being there to support Evan and Sheralee on their wedding day. Congrat!
Here is our single picture from our roamings around the city with Phil's cousin Carla.
Don't ask me why we failed to take a photo with Carla, or Nadene and her cute little kids Lachlan and Holly. Or even Aunty Julie who let us stay at her house and borrow her car. Whoops!
All and all, Melbourne treated us well...next time we'll just pack more than one pair of jeans and a hoodie and not come from the hot Utah summer.
Note taken.

Ha, Ha! I still don't know how to say Melbourne. I think it is pronounced Melbun... Not sure. I bet it wasn't all that cold. Just coming from such heat was the prob. It looks like a beautiful city. I would love to see it someday. Hot cocoa is now starting to sound pretty yummy! I am getting excited for our visit! Loved the wedding pics. It was beautiful. You looked so tan!
ReplyDeleteI do quite like Melbourne, I've only been a handful of times, but it's a nice little holiday. I really like you're outfit at the wedding! Xx
